After nearly half a century in the restaurant business, we know that there are a lot of things that contribute to a restaurant’s success: great food, great staff, great atmosphere, and especially great customers. At Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, we’ve been lucky to have all four. This past year was a particularly amazing year for us, and we’d love to share some of the highlights with you:
Awards
We were honored to once again top Ladue News’ Platinum List, winning the nod for Best Mexican Food. Their praise for our “smashing happy hour, festive atmosphere, and substantial menu” was a good reminder for us to keep focusing on what we do best.
St. Louis Magazine also announced their Reader’s Choice awards for 2014, and it was no surprise (to us at least) to learn that people voted our margaritas number one!
The Hacienda Foundation of St. Louis
By far the most important event for us in 2014 was the unveiling of our new charitable organization – The Hacienda Foundation of St. Louis. Hacienda Mexican Restaurant has been a part of the St. Louis community for more than forty years. We are thrilled to have a permanent platform to give help and support to the city we love.
Our first mission is a partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri, for a local teen named Melissa who is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Through the generous support of the community and our new Monday Margs for a Mission special, we have already raised $2,500 towards our goal to send Melissa and her family on a Caribbean cruise. Remodeled Margarita & Tequila Bar
After more than 40 years as one of top Mexican restaurants in the St. Louis area – including 35+ years in our current location – Hacienda Mexican Restaurant has seen a lot of change. But no change has been as exciting to us as the late September re-launch of our newly remodeled tequila and margarita bar. Just as the Hacienda menu has always balanced timeless traditional dishes with fresh new flavors and recipes, our new bar blends the atmosphere of a classic Old Mexico-style hacienda with a modern energy-efficient and eco-friendly ethos.
The remodeled bar area utilizes reclaimed wood, energy-efficient LED lighting, recycled metal acoustical ceiling tiles, and low- and no-VOC paints and finishes in order to create a relaxed, rustic space with modern features. Just as much thought went into what to put behind the bar as how to build it – we have an extensive and carefully chosen selection of tequilas and mezcals.
With the re-launch, we put out our first-ever tequila flight, along with an expanded margarita selection and a batch of new tequila-inspired cocktails.
